Music Law-Intellectual Property-Entertainment Transactions
Known in some circles at one time as "the best DJ in Agoura," Matthew Warren started to earn a living from music as far back as 1986. Performing as a mobile and club DJ in such legendary nightclubs as the Coconut Teaszer, Club Hollywood, the Red Onion, Hollywood Palladium, Bobby McGee's, Phases and Florentine Gardens, Matthew was groomed for a lifetime in the entertainment industry.
With that musical background, Matthew graduated cum laude with a degree in Music Business from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
As a student at USC and subsequent to his graduation in 1999, Matthew gained extensive knowledge of the business side of radio and records with stints at KIIS FM, Virgin/Noo Trybe Records, Elektra Records, Arista Records, KYSR Star 98.7, and KFWB News 980.
With a fascination for and a yearning to learn the legal side of radio and records, Matthew attended Whittier College School of Law where he acquired a specialized Certificate in Intellectual Property from the law school's Center for Intellectual Property Law. While at Whittier, Matthew was President of the school's Sports and Entertainment Law Society as well as a member of both the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy honors boards.
Following graduation from law school, Matthew obtained a great deal of litigation and trial experience at the Law Offices of Clinton & Clinton. With Clinton & Clinton, Matthew built his primary practice in the areas of contracts, agreements, business formation, insurance coverage and defense, and general business law.
With almost 20-years of collective experience working in radio and records against the backdrop of over 12 years in law, Matthew's practice involves the negotiation, drafting and enforcement of complex agreements protecting and promoting his clients' business and intellectual property interests including: recording agreements, songwriting contracts, music publishing agreements, content licenses, side-artist agreements, merchandise and influencer agreements, management contracts, producer agreements, collaboration agreements, sponsorship agreements, production services contracts, and distribution agreements.
